Where is Tony?
by Athanasius inon february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.
a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.
in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.

The Date for the Memorial is WRONG this year!

so i consulted three different jewish calendars online and sure enough, he appears to be right.
i went back to 2014 and forward to 2027. they have the future dates listed.

Well they got that wrong as well:-
MEMORIAL 2014
The moon circles our earth each month. In the course of each cycle, there is a moment when the moon lines up between the earth and the sun. This astronomical configuration is termed “new moon.” At that point, the moon is not visible from the earth nor will it be until 18 to 30 hours later.
During 2014, the new moon nearest the vernal (spring) equinox will be on March 30, at 8:45 p.m. (20:45), Jerusalem time. The following sunset in Jerusalem (March 31) will come about 21 hours later. It is doubtful that the first sliver of the moon will be visible then. More likely, the first sunset when the initial crescent of the moon can be seen in Jerusalem will be on April 1. By the method the ancient Jews used, that will be the day when the first month (Nisan 1) will start, at sunset.
Hence, congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses around the earth have been informed that Nisan 14 will begin at sunset on Monday, April 14, 2014. That will be about the time of the full moon.—For more details on calculating the date, see The Watchtower of June 15, 1977, pages 383-384.
In fact the first sliver of the new moon was clearly visible in Jerusalem on 31 March 2014 despite the GB saying otherwise. So they were a day out again.
Incidentally, as pointed out in the 1977 WT the Full Moon has nothing to do with the calculation whatever. It is 14 days from the time the sliver of the new moon is seen in Jerusalem. If you check the dates of past Memorials and the date of the full moon that month, more often than not the memorial is held when the Full Moon is a day or two different.

The latest WT says that Harold Corkern is president of the New York corporation
Interesting SBF. Leon Weaver Jnr used to have that position for many years. I saw him in a video fairly recently and wondered if he still was as he has aged so much.

In the case of WB&TS of Penn it is Harold Corkern. Not sure when he took over but his predecessor was Robert Ciranko who was rumoured to have died of Covid. This proved to be untrue and in fact he is on a very recent video.
Even the "real" presidents have been demoted in WT history. Knorr was recently referred to in a video as "one of those taking the lead at that time".
The GB are the rulers even though in 1971 when the GB was founded they were supposed to be in charge of the spiritual things and the directors etc would run the companies. See 15 December 1971 WT.

The Reasoning Book
by Magnum inthe book reasoning from the scriptures was released in the 1980's, and it was used at virtually every meeting for service, every service meeting, and every theocratic ministry school meeting thereafter.
many jws had copies bound together with their bibles.
it was huge in jw land back then.. at that time, with the reasoning book, jws were trained to keep conversations going in spite of objections, to almost stick their feet in people's doors to keep conversations going, to defend "the truth," to argue doctrine, etc.. compare the situation today with that of the 80's.

"Make Sure of all Things" has very recently been replaced by the brochure "Scriptures for Christian Living". (SCL) It is available in print or in JW Library. There was a recent video about it also. As I recall the Reasoning book was not mentioned. The dumbing down continues.
Our current bunch of elders couldn't manage a tome like "Equipped for Every Good Work" mentioned here earlier, let alone the average publisher.

Last year the Service Report was published on 10th January 2023 so there's still time. I think this will be the last one however, most of the significant changes have taken place after 1st September 2023.
